Renowned’s Challenge
The Lautner’s wanted a whimsical wedding, seen here in Vogue magazine. They wanted an intimate space that could be shared with loved ones so they decided on a beautiful winery in California. Now, this vineyard typically does not do weddings or events on the property, but they made an exception for the Lautner’s. I mean, who wouldn't? As exciting as this was, we definitely had a challenge on our hands. The gorgeous scenery required a lot of adjustments to create a nice flow for the wedding to run smoothly. That didn’t stop the RED team from creating a breathtaking atmosphere for the lovely couple.
Romantic Candle-lit Rehearsal Dinner
Taylor and Tay Lautner’s rehearsal dinner was held in one of the wine cellars on the property. It was very cold, dark, and open flames were not allowed since it could affect the aging of the wine. So we got to thinking… RED used battery powered flicker candles and battery powered LED lights. This created such a romantic glow and effortlessly resembled the natural ambiance of a real flame candle.
Private & Intimate Ceremony
The ceremony was held at the top of the vineyard, the view was absolutely breathtaking. Some challenges we faced were limited driving access, excessive winds, no power source and we wanted to block out the paparazzi as much as we could. Did this stop us? Of course not! RED provided the power source for the music and pastor to officiate the wedding. We softened the space by draping off of a solid truss structure with white sheer billows. By doing this and using our top secret method, the draping laid out perfectly blocking the paparazzi as well as creating such an elegant design.
Transitional edison bulb pathway
The patio is where the cocktail hour and the first dance was held. The couple dreamed of it being a magical moment. To make Taylor + Tay’s dream come true we hung over 500 edison bulbs throughout the space with 300 of those being in the large trees that frame the patio, behind the bar and behind the piano player for the first dance.
Next, wedding guests moved from cocktail hour to the grand entrance for dinner. Guests had to walk through a covered patio that we embellished with uplighting as floral greenery dripped from the ceiling. Again, this really tied everything together and produced a very nice flow for the event.
Moving from the patio to the wine aging tunnel. To enter the space, guests had to walk through a 9 foot wide glass door that did not have a step down into the wine aging tunnel. RED created a custom, removable step down. This custom build matched the venue perfectly and appeared to belong there. Once in the tunnel we hung over 150 edison bulbs. We created rigging that would not damage the venue for floral and greenery.
The entire event had a custom scent from Fine Fragrances & Scented Candles | Snif. This was just one of the many brilliant ideas by Samkoma World.
Low Lighting Ambiance
To finish off the evening, the guests moved into the dinner area. RED dropped the lighting low by bringing the Edison drops down to just above the head when seated. This created such an intimate space for the attendees. The custom scent was carried out in the entire space. We also blocked out spaces that should not be seen during the event with draping.
